Camp Shriver Evaluation
Camp Shriver at UMass Boston undergoes a rigorous evaluation to document the successes and challenges of its implementation. For the past two years CSDE has conducted the evaluation of the Camp and developed standard forms and assessment instruments for use at the UMass Boston camp and other Camp Shrivers across the country. The Camp Shriver 2007 Report details the Camp's success in increasing both the number of campers (76) and the duration of the camp (four weeks). Most importantly, all campers showed significant improvement in their sports skills and all campers, including those with disabilities, developed new and positive social relationships. These findings will be published in a scientific journal in the coming year.
